Asking an agent about a PDF is built in. The file goes in. The answer comes back with the page it came from.

The agent can query the document, inspect its structure, and open the text of a page. Those are part of the same reading, so the next step still knows where the answer sat.
A scan takes the same path.
Scanned pages are read, with Docling, into that same index. The agent then answers from the document in the same way, with the page named.
PageIndex, the reading method this uses, publishes 98.7% on FinanceBench, a public financial-document question set. That figure is theirs, not a result we measured. On their open local test — 62 questions answered from the running text of 34 PDFs — the stronger models scored 62 of 62. That test does not cover tables, charts, or scans.
